January 2018 is Here!

If you are a “New Year’s Resolution” person you may be well on your way to your new goal.  If you are a “New Year to start something New person” you may still be looking for that new “thing” to try out and see where it goes!

Personally, I am more the second person than the first.  It really doesn’t matter though which person you are or if you take on neither of these.  Often times we stress ourselves out at this time of year thinking that if we don’t have that “New Shiny Goal” in place than we have already failed for the year before we can succeed, or if we take something on and in the first week something happens and we can no longer commit to it that the whole year is now blown…

Hogwash! (as my mom would say!)

A New Year only holds the meaning YOU/I attach to it. We can actually start and stop goals at anytime and it means nothing about who we are or how the rest of the year will go if we do.

Mindset is everything in the game of life, in my opinion. The moment I make myself wrong or something wrong that is going on around me is the moment that I have gone down the rabbit hole and will spend the next week/month/year trying to dig myself out of it.

Give yourself the freedom to explore this January. To explore what it is that lights you up and when you discover it….DO MORE OF THAT! (Whatever it is)

Do not allow yourself to dive deep into the rabbit hole of destruction that wrecks your entire year before it is started. Make 2018 the year of exploration and see what opens up!

Just a suggestion to take on as we move forward this month.

The Journey Starts with a Single Step….

Before I became a zumba instructor and speaker, I had been searching for something I loved to do. Like many people, I was walking around going from job to job unfulfilled in my journey.  Don’t get me wrong, I had a lot of really great jobs and worked with a lot of really great people….but none of the work I was doing was filling that void I felt.

I started taking zumba to first find a fitness that I would stick to and enjoy as many other sports/fitness didn’t interest me and also because I found myself getting lost in the music and walking away feeling like that void I kept feeling would disappear.

As time went on, I found myself looking so forward to class and for me, at the time, it wasn’t really about the workout anymore, it was about how it made me feel the moment the music came on and my body began to move. It was like I could feel all of the issues I was having during the day just start to fall right off of me and I would be smiling from ear to ear by the end of class.

The more I did it, the more I wanted others to have this experience.  I realized my love for music and movement is what had been missing in my life. I didn’t even have any intention to become an instructor but then at some point, it just happened.

To this day, I still have days that are stressful but the difference is that everyday, I dance it away with amazing women and we laugh and sweat and leave all our worries at the door.  It doesn’t mean that the worries or stresses don’t come back either. Sometimes they do…..and then, I dance again and reflect on what needs to happen and most times I gain clarity on what I am dealing with while I am busting a move!

Becoming an instructor was one of the greatest gifts I could give to myself.   When I hear people say, “all journey starts with a single step”, I totally get it…and then this journey was followed up by a cha-cha-cha and I am forever grateful.

Let me support you in finding the mental, emotional and physical release you want/need in life. If you love music, you will love zumba. Anyone really CAN do it no matter your shape, mindset, physical disability….when there is a will, there is a way!

I have seen the snow…IT’S COMING!

I have just returned from a visit to Saskatchewan and I am here to warn you that it is COMING! Be sure to come to Zumba class and keep your bodies warm and active!

Now is the time to dance away your stress and lose a few inches without even knowing it!

Classes are all ON! You can dance with me Monday to Friday! WOOHOO!

Taking On Over-all Health Begins With a Workout!

I could not be MORE EXCITED to kick off this week with ALL Zumba classes ON!

I cannot wait to dance and play with all of you this week!

I have been learning so much out of a difficult few months how important physical activity really is….not just for physical health but being able to clear my mind and keep moving forward by literally putting one foot in front of the other and sometimes side to side in a Cha-Cha-Cha.

On the days when I really didn’t want to (and yes, even as instructors we have those moments) I got up and went and by the end of dancing for 60 minutes, I felt amazing again and clear-headed to be able to go back to my family and make a difference for them and for me!

Working out, in my opinion, should be a part of everyone’s day.  Whether it be a 20 minute walk in a park, a zumba class, bootcamp, hitting the gym, whatever it is for you that you love.  The point is, our bodies are meant to move so staying stationary at a desk or coming home at the end of the day and sitting on the couch or watching tv, is not what your body actually wants. It IS what our minds “think” we want sometimes, I am not denying that!

If you continue to set up your workout, just like you do your work schedule and have it just become part of your regular routine, trust me, everything will open up for you.

These past few months have been extremely emotional and difficult for me and I am also clear that it would have been ten times worse if I hadn’t gotten up and went to class everyday.  I managed to think clearer, smile more, open to new ideas and find more love than I ever knew was possible just by working out and keeping the happy endorphins flowing.

It wasn’t easy but it was TOTALLY WORTH IT and completely available to you too!

I just want to speak from the heart today and say………

Thank you.  

Whether we have met or not, you are someone in life who is reading this message and that makes you someone special to me. I do not need to have met you to know that there is somewhere in your life that you have taken something on and it has been amazing whether it have been for yourself, your family, friends, co-workers or a complete stranger….at some point in your life you did something or were someone who made a difference for someone else.

Thank you.

In a world that can sometimes seem really hard and that you are not appreciated….. I want you to know you are. You are appreciated and if you look around you, you will see it.

Thank you and appreciation of others does not even have to come because someone has done something for you either. It can just be that in this world of miracles you were created and you are on this earth and that in itself is something to appreciate and be thankful for!

Today I choose to look for the gold in every person I come in contact with, including myself.

Take on the challenge to thank or appreciate 5 people today.  Whether it be face to face, in a text, over a loud-speaker, in a taxi, a neighbor, a friend, a co-worker, family, yourself.  Begin taking on being thankful each and every day and watch your world expand!  The more thankful and appreciative you become, the happier you will become, the easier things in life become to deal with.
