Do You Need Stress Relief?

Life is not easy all the time and being human, we all deal with a certain amount of stress. It is just a fact of life.

Stress is something that will diminish your energy, cause anxiety through your body, leave you feeling like you either need to run away or stand up and fight.

It really does affect us all.

So what’s the solution?

I can only speak from what I know.  What I know if that I spent MANY years being a prisoner of my stress.  It would build up in my body until I felt paralyzed and couldn’t think of what a possible “next step” could even be!

One day while feeling super bummed out and wanting to hide, I heard a fun song on the radio that I knew. I could feel the corners of my mouth turning up. Soon I realized I was singing along.  By the end of the song I was up and moving around cleaning up while doing a little dance.

I felt great. Like the cement blocks on my shoulders were starting to crumble.

I started to do this more often when feeling super stressed out.

It wasn’t until years later that I discovered Zumba…and then really…like no kidding…I DANCE OUT ALL MY STRESS every week and feel amazing…even to this day!!!

Zumba became my full-time stress reliever.

I discovered that rhythms and moving my body to rhythms allowed not only my physical body to “feel good” but it also rearranges molecules in my thinking and how I react to difficult situations.

Zumba became my solution to dealing with my stress. Maybe it could for you too!

Kindness is Contagious!

In a world of busy, it is important to remember whether you are in person OR on-line you have a choice in EVERY moment to show love and kindness.

So many times I see negativity being spread on social media and just the other day, I was at the gas station and witnessed a guy yelling at a woman because in his opinion, she was taking too long at the pump.  Whenever I see this kind of behavior whether on-line or in person, I have to wonder how much energy all that negativity just sucked out of the person dishing it out and how much energy was taken away from the person who it got delivered on.

I know first-hand when I am being kind to someone in either situation, by the end I am lit up and so is the person I supported or spoke kindly to.  It is like a little energy boost without doing a physical work out. It just feels great!

I assert that when we/you/I dump negativity on someone quite the opposite occurs and a loss of energy happens. This leaves us feeling drained, unhappy and many times ready to give up.

That being said, if you want to energize your day, spend the day doing kind deeds or saying kind things to others and see how your energy level boosts!

An attitude of gratitude and sprinkling kindness everywhere you go brings on Good Karma, abundance of energy and an awesome life!

Don’t just take my word for it….GET OUT THERE AND SPRINKLE KINDNESS EVERYWHERE! 🙂

Discover Your Passion and Make it Your Purpose!

Before creating the LOL Movement, I used to work many different jobs….for years I worked behind a desk as an office manager. Before that in ophthalmology and prior to that managing gyms and offices.  I would go from job to job thinking “this will be THE ONE!”

Does this sound familiar?

Excited at first. Delighted with the tasks I had in front of me and then at some point….I would lose my passion or drive for it.  It became a J-O-B….just something I did to pay the bills. While I continue to do it well, in my heart I always would know when the passion for it had left.

Upon discovering Zumba it was like my whole body came alive. I never saw it as a career or something I would be passionate about. It was just that class I took on Thursdays that allowed me to stop thinking or worrying for an hour.  When my instructor approached me one day and said I should teach this, I thought she had lost it….but later that night I began to think about it and weeks later, I found a training and threw my hat over the wall and went for it.

Best decision I ever made!

I started out small….teaching one class a week for about 6 months….then two classes for about another 6 months….then four a week….then (rearranging my day job to accommodate more classes) six classes a week…..then it just got out of control!

I realized that what I was doing for fun and what I loved were colliding together and it was awesome. I was suddenly consumed by choreographing…dancing on the subway to make up new routines…figuring out how I could do more classes and who else could benefit from this!

My passion became my purpose.  Now, nearly 2 years later on my own building this, I continue to live my passion and know that my purpose is to have people see how AMAZING they truly are and what they CAN accomplish.

Are there struggles? Yes.

Do I always win? No.

Do I get back up and keep going? Yes.

Will I ever give up on anyone? No.

Everyday is a gift. The moment your eyes open, you have been given another day to make the most of. Do not play small. Go for your dreams. Create visions. Dance like nobody is watching…..LIVE!

Take Time Out to Enjoy Your Day Everyday!

I completely understand the world of deadlines, late meetings, early mornings and everything in between.  I used to be that person that made no time for myself because I was always like the hamster chasing the wheel….wanting to be better, make more money, be praised more for what I could do.

I reached a point where my health was paying the price for my “better, faster, wealthier, harder working” mentality.  

There was a day when the line got drawn in the sand and I knew I was going to start taking small steps to taking care of not only all of my responsibilities but also to take care of myself.

Honestly, no one will take care of you unless you are willing to take care of you. YOU are the first person you wake up to everyday….in fact you are the FIRST person YOU talk to everyday!  You tell yourself how the day is going to go, how you will feel, whether you got enough sleep last night, etc.

Why not tell yourself that you deserve 45-60 minutes a day to either exercise, dance, laugh, meditate, go for a run, take a class, ride a bike, go for a swim? 

Many people find that taking 45-60 minutes to themselves each day to work out in some way, allows them to be more productive on whatever task they are embarking on.  

I challenge you to take a 30 day challenge!  

For 6 weeks, I challenge you to take 60 minutes to work out for 5 days a week and keep a journal of how you are feeling and what accomplishments you make during this time frame.  Then come back here and let me know how you did.  You choose the fitness and time frame for each week 5 days a week.  If you are not sure what to do, contact me and we can put together a wellness plan, otherwise, pick your own and go for it and let us know how you made out!

If there is one thing I have learned in this life, is that life is much too short to wait for “some days” to show up.

Some day IS now!

The Great Gravity Pull…Zumba Toning Can Help!

Have you noticed that gravity does not like you as you age? Like where your bosoms once were closer to your shoulders they are now having a party with your belly button…..or the fact that when you are wearing a sleeveless top your arms keep waving long after your hand stops….Has this happened to you?

I will never forget the day that I was doing a pull up at the gym at 27 years old and I did the pull up and then my arms did another jiggly pull up after I was done…..I was like “WHAT just happened??”

It is not out of the ordinary to have this experience so don’t hide it! It happens!

There are lots of things you can do to support the good old arm jiggle, such as ZUMBA TONING.  Zumba toning incorporates in all the latin cardio fitness that one can expect from a Zumba class AND you add in using 1-2 lbs weights into the routines.  I know this does not sound like much weight and really “how can it stop the arm jiggle?”

Let me tell you from experience….the arm jiggle can be a thing of the past with this.  I began teaching Zumba toning just twice a week and saw results! The whole concept behind using these weights is to move them as if you are moving 10 lbs, not 1-2lbs.  When you are moving your arms as if you are moving 10lbs, you will see that you have a fluid motion and your muscles will tighten and tone much faster!

Random Acts of Kindness Create a Healthy Mind!

Last night I parked my vehicle to go teach and went to go get a ticket. While I was at the machine, I saw a man come up to my car, look around and then quickly he put his paid parking ticket on my vehicle so I didn’t need to plug the meter.  He was really adorable! I am clear he didn’t want me to know, it was just an act of kindness.

Next time you’re in a drive thru line, pay for the food or coffee for the person waiting in line behind you. Give up your seat on the bus, talk to someone who seems upset. Say Hi to everyone as you walk by! These simple acts of kindness will brighten up anyone’s day and will also brighten your own!

If you want to “feel good” immediately in your life, do something kind for another person. Take your attention off of yourself and put it on others.  The more time you spend with the grey matter between your ears, the less time you have to make a difference for yourself and others!

Get out there and PLAY in life!
