Benefits of Movement

Weather and Importance of Movement

I don’t know about you but I am DEEPLY affected by weather conditions. Some people think that is crazy. I am here to tell you that I do not believe it is crazy AT ALL!

This year I have been personally struggling.

On cold rainy days, I want nothing more than to crawl into my bed and wait it out.  Had I done that though, I would still be hibernating between my sheets and we are halfway through May!

I have always been affected by weather.  It is a REAL THING so please know you are not alone if you have these feelings in your body show up. Symptoms include: pain in low back and neck, pressure headaches, eyes aching, respiratory issues, aching all over, mood swings.

For many of you who know me, you may be thinking this is ridiculous that I am saying this happens to me as I come across as cheerful most of the time…I am not and experience all these symptoms quite regularly with our current weather system.

Honestly, there is really only one true Godsend that I have found that works for me……MOVEMENT and lots of it!

Movement has been imperative to my health and even more so with the long winter we have had this year.

I struggle most days to “want” to get up and move. The good news for me is, it is my career so not really a choice to say “ah, I will go tomorrow.”  There are days I just feel my brain screaming “I do not want to do this today!” and everyday that these internal struggles show up, I know I have to go whether I like it or not and here is the best part….

It’s really juicy….EVERY TIME the music comes on, within 5 seconds of the first beat, everything begins to shift. It’s like coming up from holding your breathe under water for a long time. That first inhale is so refreshing…As the music and dance continues on, I can feel my WHOLE body and mind coming ALIVE as if I had been in a coma prior to that moment.  By the end of 60 minutes, those pains, breathing, headache, mood swings…they are GONE!

I am AWAKE. I am ALIVE. I am ME AGAIN!

The hardest part in all of it is just getting myself to the location of a class. Once there, the whole world shifts.

In all my 42 years I have never found something that holds such a profound impact on not just my physical health but my mental and emotional health as well all at the same time.

I have spoke to many ladies recently who I am clear are dealing with the same thing. Many have commented on “I was going to come but I am just so tired right now.” Or “I was going to come but this weather has got me down.”

I want you to know I get it. I want you to know I experience it too.

I want you to know there is a way past all of that for you to FEEL GREAT even now, with the weather the way it is.

I cannot change Mother Nature, however, I can shift what I am doing to have my life working and positive no matter what Mother Nature decides to do, and YOU CAN TOO!

You are not alone.

Come out to a class and let’s MOVE together! 🙂

Much love,

Tammy

I Am Under Construction…It Is A GREAT Thing!

I have discovered that everything in life, jobs, relationships, being alive, is always evolving and if I stay “static” or not moving in one area then everything eventually seems like it gets “stuck”. It becomes a force that is very hard to move forward.

The beginning of 2018 brought upon many incidents/accidents that have had me begin to re-evaluate much of what I have been working on.  Not like a problem, only that knowing when many challenges show up, sometimes it is like the universe’s way of saying “HELLO TAMMY!! Are you listening?”

The most prominent that started my year were 2 car accidents less than 2 month’s apart. Both times I was rear-ended and ended up with whiplash and concussions. The second time I was hit, my car that I just purchased less than 6 month’s prior to the accidents, it didn’t make it.

Being that I work primarily in the fitness industry this was very hard physically to see some of the limitations I was having after both accidents.  I had headaches regularly, my body was very sore constantly.  I would easily forget things I had just done or said in the first few weeks following these accidents. It was terribly frustrating at the time.

Thankfully, I know my body well and went directly to my chiropractor and medical doctor right after the accidents. I immediately got the support I needed and have bounced back extremely quickly so I can keep working doing what I love.

That being said, the accidents also opened something up for me. I realized I really had no back up plan if something were to happen that I didn’t “bounce back” again if something else were to happen. The question to myself was “If I am not able to dance anymore, then what?”

I realized this year that my passion is and always will be to support others in discovering what lights them up. Supporting others in finding the relationships they are looking for. Supporting people of all abilities to move and find their groove! Supporting others in making their dreams reality, whether it be fitness goals, relationships, financial, building businesses, creating extraordinary events, and so much more.

The company I have built, the Live OUT LOUD Movement, is so much more than just a fitness program based primarily in Zumba Fitness.

The Live OUT LOUD Movement is a LIFE MOVEMENT.

A place to take all that seems like heavy weights on our shoulders and discover the silver lining within them all to produce extraordinary results in the face of no agreement in life.

I truly believe that everything happens in our lives for a reason. Even all the “bad stuff” that I wish never happened. I see it as it had to happen to show me something that I couldn’t see was available before. In the moment, it never “feels” that way, however the true gift of this MOVEMENT is the opportunity to look more in-depth at what is happening and discover what I/we can’t see right away.  Discovering the knowledge that is hidden deep within what ails us to creating a strong and vibrant life that impacts ourselves and others by what is discovered!

I am in the process of rebuilding new aspects to the Live OUT LOUD Movement and new offerings over the next few months to really dive deep into what is possible through this company to help people in a unique way.

I hope you stick around to see what is next and how it all plays out. I will always continue to dance for as long as my body will let me, you can bet money on that and now is the time for me to take what I have built thus far and expand it far beyond where it is today!

EXCITING TIMES!

I'm under construction and loving it

All Roads Lead to YES!

Do you ever have the thought “Should I go?”…. do not worry, you are never alone with this question.

Majority of people will question whether to do something and especially when it comes to taking time for yourself and your own health & well-being, MANY people question and then choose to do something other than taking care of themselves.

Myself included, until about 9 years ago when I got serious about taking care of me!  I used to question whether I should go to a class or go to the gym a couple of times a week.  When it came down to going to the gym, I would often sell out on myself because I did not enjoy running on a treadmill or lifting weights. It was easy to say “no I won’t go.”

Even when I started Zumba, as much as I enjoyed it, there would be times I would say “nah, not today!” but what would end up happening is that one day would turn into a whole week and then I would feel anxious, lethargic and behind the game of taking care of me rolling into the next week….

Once I adopted the mentality of still asking myself “should I go?” with full intention of the answer always being “YES!” no matter how I felt (unless running a fever), I would ALWAYS feel better that I went.

It is so easy to sell out on ourselves and get busy in the day-to-day. Honestly though, once I started being consistent with taking care of me, the Day-to-day just got really easy and more fun too!

Take time out for YOU….ALWAYS!!

Personal Stories

Halfway to 80 & Embracing It!

I was teaching Zumba at a highschool a while ago when some of the girls thought I was in my mid 20’s. While extremely flattered, I let them know I was almost 40 years old.  One of the girls then said “Whoa! You are half-way to 80!!!”

Ummm…ya….so, how would you respond to that?

It took me a moment to recoup….mainly because I never thought of 40 as half-way to 80 but she was absolutely right!  It began a journey of putting a lot of things in perspective for myself.

When I go into high schools now I often talk to girls about how they take care of themselves and manage their stress levels and look with them as to what they can do when they are out of highschool and on to university to support them in managing stress and being in a whole new world.  I think it is important to have this conversation with teens. Whether they do something about it right away or tuck that conversation away until it resurfaces down the road….fitness is a huge component to not only being physically fit but mentally fit as well and it’s important for young people and teens to know they can use fitness as an outlet over having to take medications to manage stress, anxiety and other issues.

When I was actually in my 20’s I was one of the most unhealthy people I knew!  I had it like “oh, I will be fine!”….”I will never get sick or be over weight”…….WRONG!

I am now looking back over the last 20 years and I must say, 20’s were unhealthy and then I woke up in my very late 20’s, early 30’s and realized I needed to do something about where my health and well-being was headed.  It was like the universe began to knock on my door saying “HEY YOU!! I am coming for you if you don’t wake up!!”

And I did! I answered that door and quickly!

My 30’s have really taken on a level of health and fitness I never thought would be possible for me.  It has always been a “one foot in front of the other” kind of experience to get to here.

Have you ever heard the question “how do you eat an elephant?”

Answer: one bite at a time.

I realized that I couldn’t just all of a sudden be healthy. I had to start somewhere and slowly work my way through it.

And I did! One bite at a time.

My 30’s became about embracing a positive mindset (mindset is ALWAYS the best place to start), learning about foods, finding physical activities I love to do…to the point (for me) that it became a career.  The further I went with it, the more I wanted to support others in finding their fitness and wellness passions that they may not even be aware existed!

Now here I am, about to embrace my “halfway to 80” life and I feel younger now than I ever did.  The older I get, the more wisdom in taking care of myself and those around me I feel and wish to contribute to.  Age is just a number but in those numbers comes wisdom, strength, courage when you listen for the gold in your life and answer when the universe knocks!

Be You. Embrace Age. Love Life.

If you feel like you are unclear what will make the difference for you for health and well-being but are ready to answer that door, send me an email, lets talk!

Will This Be YOUR Year?

2016 is finally here.  All the waiting and deliberating for this big day and it has now arrived.

Here is the question…..what will you do and who will you be to have this be an amazing year?

It is not that things just happen to us each year.  It is a set of actions OR in-actions that we take that have the year be the “best ever” or the “worst ever”.  That being said, I am totally clear and understand there are things that happen that seem completely out of our control.  When I look at it though, I can see how I react to it all will set in motion the next steps of actions I will take and what will come next.

In the world of fitness when resolutions are made I have said this myself before “I am going to lose 15 lbs and be at my strongest this year!” and then I went back to sitting on my couch, eating unhealthy foods and blaming it all on the stress I had at my job that made me want to do nothing but “relax” at the end of the day.

Sound familiar?

What I thought when coming home and turning on the TV and eating whatever I wanted was helping me to “relax” it was actually just setting me up to have a difficult day again on Tuesday, then Wednesday, then Thursday, then THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY came and then I could REALLY relax until Sunday afternoon when I would start to stress about all the work I had to do on Monday.

Where do you think TGIF came from? I think it came from this type of work cycle myself and the lack of physical fitness as an outlet to BURN AWAY THE STRESS AND CALORIES!

What I saw for myself is that even when I had those really stressful days, as soon as I got myself to a fitness class and got in the zone of working out, I felt ALIVE again! Like all the stress of the day melted away and I could breathe again.

Life got really simple when I started AND stuck to a regular fitness routine.  Sure, I struggled to get out the door to class most days, sometimes I still do and I am the instructor! However, the hardest part has always been getting there and when I shifted my thinking to remind myself how great I felt AFTER a workout, you bet I was going to be there.

TGIF should be changed to THANK GOD IT’S FITNESS!!!

What I am trying to say here is it really is great to set a New Year’s Resolution and YOUR actions will truly dictate whether by December 31, 2016 you have achieved them or not.  Don’t be worried if you fall off, get back up.  Don’t worry if your goal shifts, set the sails in a direction that keeps you moving forward.

BE your own success story this year!

I Used To Wait For The Signs….Now I Live…

I have spent a lot of my life asking for “signs” that things are going to work out for me.  I used to think that this was the way that I would know I was on the right track.  While it is great to look for ways to see that you are headed in the right direction, it is also very positive to head IN A DIRECTION…..even if it turns out to be the wrong one.

Looking back on my life, I can see where there were many years (yes, I said years) that life became stagnant, boring, mundane, because I would just get up in the morning, go to work, come home and watch tv and then go to bed and repeat the cycle in the morning.  I thought this was living and I was scared to step out of it. For a long time this is what I thought “being an adult” was all about.

It wasn’t until I drew a line in the sand (I know there is no sand on the prairies…metaphorically speaking people) and said to myself “my life is going to be exciting!” that I began to challenge the way I thought, take actions I never had (like going back to school…moving away…dating) that I got to see how interesting life really could be.

The beauty in it all was that I made some great choices and some really bad choices.  The good ones I celebrated and the bad ones I began to see what I could learn from them and not make them wrong for having happened.  This gave me a lot of freedom to begin living again.  Surrounding myself with people who I knew/know that are always pulling for me to be great has also made a big difference.

The friends that were “negative Nick and Nancy’s” (this is just a term…my friends who are named Nick and Nancy are actually really awesome!) had to be given their pink slips to take a walk out of my life.  There was no more room for negative people.  Misery loves company and frankly, I didn’t want to be the company or the misery anymore.

Life changes can seem difficult to make, however, like anything in life, we/you/I just need to take the first step in some direction and then the path will begin to open up and its possible to see a destination on the horizon.

The future really can be so bright, you gotta wear shades!

You Are Not Alone….I Am With You

As I continue to expand and build the Live OUT LOUD Movement I am so present to the platform this business stands on and for.

A place for people to realize they are not alone. Telling one on myself at times for you to be freed up from your own thoughts and things that you hide away from.  A place for people to be coached, lifted up and to discover how to move forward towards your own goals and dreams.

I have met and continue to meet people who silently suffer with their health, their thoughts, thinking they are a bad person because they either are unable to get fit or for something that has happened from years ago that they make themselves wrong for and do not allow themselves the freedom to really live again.  For some, they have created a jail cell around them and they can’t see anymore that they live in a free world.

The mission is simple….take each and every person out of the their head/thoughts and have them Living OUT LOUD in their lives! Abundance, Love, Play.

Learning from mistakes and losses, celebrating the wins and happy moments. I use fitness and health as the platform to create a life of abundance and happiness. Gone are the stress-filled days you once walked through and present are the days of having the skills to deal with anything!

This has been a personal mission I have been on for the last 30+ years on to how to deal with what life throws at me and learning how to not make myself wrong for where I am at or what is happening.

Fitness and forward thinking and planning has moved my own life from one of complete despair to true joy.  I have seen my clients overcome some big obstacles with their health, how they feel about themselves and come out from hiding in their lives.  The joy that they have now, I want everyone to experience.

I know this program can work for you too.  Why? Not only have I seen some of my own clients succeed, I have done it myself. I have walked my own life through this system.

I have total compassion for what you are dealing with and ruthless determination to walk every step with you to meet your goals and dreams.

Life is truly abundant, when you can see it. I am here to take you on that journey, guide you and have YOU Live OUT LOUD!

YOU are NOT alone.
