Halloween Party for Zumba and a Pint this Wednesday!!

6:45pm this Wednesday October 30th High Park Brewery is hosting a SPOOKTACULAR night of halloween themed music, prizes & fun for all!

To be entered to win a prize you MUST come in costume! 🙂

This is will be a really fun night! The brewery has even brewed 4 new beers for you! The Pumpkin Spice is delicious!

Do not miss this event! It will be alot of fun! $20 gets you the class and a pint!

High Park Brewery Zumba & a Pint Wednesday August 7th @ 6:45pm

This may sound a little crazy to some but I have always wanted to do Zumba in a cool brewery or night club!

The environment to me just screams ZUMBAAAA!!!

I am so happy that last week we got to do Zumba in High Park Brewery! We had 30 people on the floor doing zumba and around 50 people (dancers & non-dancers) in the brewery for the night! It was an awesome event bringing our community together! We even had 2 babies & 3 dogs! It really is a space for everyone 2-legged and 4-legged!

The feedback I received was awesome! 

“The parking is amazing! Free! And so much of it!”

“That was the most fun Zumba class!”

“You could feel the energy in the brewery”

“That beer was delicious!!”

“When can we do that again? I want to bring my friends!”

“That was easy to follow! It was my first time!”

And the feedback continued throughout the night….

At the end of the night, Ted & I (one of the amazing owners of the brewery) sat there talking about how great the night was….then we said s if reading each others minds…..”Let’s do it again!!” 🙂

We both agreed we didn’t want to wait too long, so Wednesday August 7th is the PERFECT date!

Here is the “What You Need to Know:

  • Wednesday August 7 @ 6:45pm  HIGH PARK BREWERY (839 Runnymede Road)
  • Zumba Basics (meaning anyone can do it! 3-4 moves per song)
  • $20 for Zumba class & a pint of delicious High Park Brewery beer OR a soft drink
  • Wear comfy breathable clothes & runners
  • Bring a reusable water bottle (We got lots to keep filling it!:)
  • Bring your friends, neighbors, family 2-legged & 4-legged if you like! They can do the class or just enjoy a cold pint or BOTH!

There is no food at the brewery but you are welcome to bring food in! Pick up a pizza, roti, chicken, whatever you like! You CAN eat it in the brewery!

Come a little early to get signed in! If you have not come before, there is a form you need to fill out, so please give yourself at minimum 5-10 minutes to get signed in and ready to begin!

Scheduling Notices

Long Weekend & Schedule May 23-25, 2018

With the long weekend fast approaching I am hoping you all have great plans to be on a patio, maybe a lake or in a cottage or even checking out something cool in our great city of Toronto!

Happy Victoria Day long weekend to all!

As a reminder to the newsletter that went out at the beginning of May, there will be NO CLASSES May 23, 24 & 25 at Oscar Romero Party Room.  I will be away!

Also FRIDAY MAY 18th, class will be 45 minutes in length and will start at 9:00AM.

If I do not see you before the holiday, have a great one!!

Zumba is so much fun!

If you are someone who goes to the gym and counts the minutes until your workout is over…it may be time for you to try something different.

I was there once too…

I used to go to the gym and get on a treadmill and within 4 minutes (and I may be stretching that a little to make it seem like I really gave it all I had to make it to 5 minutes…) all I could think of was how long I had to keep doing this to reach the end.

Sound familiar?

Don’t get me wrong.  The gym can be GREAT! Some people really love it and I encourage my clients to switch it up and go if it inspires them. Trying different things can keep you from plateauing in your workouts.

When I found Zumba, my first reaction to the video I watched was “This is AMAZING!! I wanna do this!”

When I found my first class and went my first reaction was (tons of laughter from me) and “What the heck am I doing? I must look like a clown right now!”

The difference between yoga classes and Zumba classes (besides the obvious differences) is this…when you laugh and can’t stop in Zumba..it is fun and contagious….when you laugh and can’t stop in yoga…they kick you out…

I learned that one on my own too

(hence why I also teach Laughter Yoga…Kinda more my style)

After taking a few Zumba classes (started out with one a week), I began to know the moves a little more and fell in love with music and how FAST the class went.  I felt like I just stepped into class and suddenly we were at the cooldown.

BAM!

Just like that I was sweaty, relaxed and DONE my workout!! Felt so good!!

Each week came with more moves, new rhythms and then this class called Zumba Toning started and class was different but still as much fun as regular Zumba.  Then came Zumba Senato!!

What??!! All this from the Zumba Family??

The great part was that this class gave me a new way to continue doing what I loved and a new way to work my muscles so I didn’t plateau in my workouts.

Fast forward to 10 years now…2 years as a student and coming up 8 years teaching.

People often as me “Is Zumba just a fad?”

Honestly, I don’t know…I have been doing it for a decade now and I am not bored and have no interest in quitting. I love it. It is passion. It is play. It is sweaty fun with an AMAZING community of people! I cannot imagine going back to anything else.

I think there are quite a few people out there, just like me, that a decade has passed and we are all wondering where the time went because it is just that AWESOME and easy to get hooked doing it!

Hope you come have some laughs, sweat and groove moves with us all soon! It is NEVER too late to start!

January 2018 is Here!

If you are a “New Year’s Resolution” person you may be well on your way to your new goal.  If you are a “New Year to start something New person” you may still be looking for that new “thing” to try out and see where it goes!

Personally, I am more the second person than the first.  It really doesn’t matter though which person you are or if you take on neither of these.  Often times we stress ourselves out at this time of year thinking that if we don’t have that “New Shiny Goal” in place than we have already failed for the year before we can succeed, or if we take something on and in the first week something happens and we can no longer commit to it that the whole year is now blown…

Hogwash! (as my mom would say!)

A New Year only holds the meaning YOU/I attach to it. We can actually start and stop goals at anytime and it means nothing about who we are or how the rest of the year will go if we do.

Mindset is everything in the game of life, in my opinion. The moment I make myself wrong or something wrong that is going on around me is the moment that I have gone down the rabbit hole and will spend the next week/month/year trying to dig myself out of it.

Give yourself the freedom to explore this January. To explore what it is that lights you up and when you discover it….DO MORE OF THAT! (Whatever it is)

Do not allow yourself to dive deep into the rabbit hole of destruction that wrecks your entire year before it is started. Make 2018 the year of exploration and see what opens up!

Just a suggestion to take on as we move forward this month.

Ladies!! December is on the way and this means parties, festive cheer, shopping and schedules become jam-packed.

I totally get it. I am right there with you!

Make sure that with all that is going on in your lives that you continue to take care of you during this busy season.  This means continuing to schedule yourself to be at your fitness classes!

YOU are worth it and especially now you must make sure you take care of your well-being by keeping up with your own personal routine too!

Summer Is On Its Way!

Well almost….and when it’s here the real question is…will you be ready?

Who Needs an All-Inclusive?

When you can go to a zumba class and visit all places in 60 minutes!!

That’s right! Zumba can be your “all-inclusive” get away from your day-to-day and will cost you soooooo much less than travelling and you will still be home in time to sleep in your own bed! 😉

Here are some more POSITIVES to this Zumba All-Inclusive:

  1. Cost efficient: Besides the travel to and from class, the cost is very minimal for a 10 or 20 class pass.
