90’s Zumba DANCE PARTY September 18!!

Did you love the 90’s? Do you hear a 90’s song on the radio & you instantly begin to smile? 🙂 🙂

It was a fun time FULL of great dance music (tons of colorful wild clothing), whether is be pop, latin, hip hop, reggaetone, you name it…GREAT music, fun clothing came out of the 90’s.

In honor of this great era, we are dedicating next week (September 18th) to celebrate ALL GREAT music of the 90’s!

One Step At a Time!

Do you ever just want to do some type of fitness but stop yourself because you have the thought “but will THIS be the thing I can stick to?” or “will THIS be the exercise I will actually get in shape with?”

Many people stop before they even get started due to mindset.

Myself included.

I knew for many years that I wanted to do some form of fitness and many times I would start at the gym and do some cardio, a bit of weights and then get frustrated because either

a. I wouldn’t be consistent because I couldn’t see where this work was going or

b. I just wasn’t having fun and it began to feel like another j-o-b and quite frankly I already had one of those doing 40+ hours a week!

When I discovered Zumba, I realized it was actually similar to something I would do often that would pick up my spirits. At home, I would crank up my music, clean my house, sing out loud, shake my bum while I tidied up!

The best part with Zumba is I no longer had to CLEAN UP to get this inspiration going! 🙂 

I could just go to a class, stand in the front or the back and just dance and lose myself in the music.  I stopped having those thoughts of “will this get me in shape” or “will this be the thing I stick to.”

It just became easy because I fell in love with it.

A great zumba instructor and class has a freedom to it. Everyone is accepted. Everyone CAN dance and are in a safe, fun environment where people just let loose and sweat awesomeness everywhere.

You will be having so much fun that you don’t need to see the end result, you just ride out the journey….one…step…at…a…time!

Summer is Commmminnnngggg!!!!

Okay…I may be a little premature in saying this, however, at some point it must show up!

Summer always does!

That being said, why not get a jump-start on feeling great inside and out by coming out to “shake what your momma gave ya!” at a local zumba class!

No need to get a gym membership or feel intimidated by equipment and weightlifters.  The only thing you need to bring is water and maybe a towel to wipe down after class because one thing I 100% promise…WE GONNA SWEAT!

The location is fun and community oriented, the ladies are awesome and welcoming. We do not play games like in high school, we all just come out for a good time, to get lost in the music, have some laughs and walk away feeling awesome.

Spring Forward….

Yup! It happened! Time has moved ahead by an hour!

This has always affected my health when it happens….throws off my sleep and I feel more tired than ever.

How do I get back on track?

I get back to dancing my regular Zumba schedule as quickly as possible.

Yes, it is good to let our bodies rest but have you noticed if you just let your body rest long enough…it isn’t really interested in doing much else?

Push through the time change and month of March blues by staying on track and dancing your way through it!

It is the only thing that seems to work for me! Try it and see if it works for YOU TOO!

Zumba is so much fun!

If you are someone who goes to the gym and counts the minutes until your workout is over…it may be time for you to try something different.

I was there once too…

I used to go to the gym and get on a treadmill and within 4 minutes (and I may be stretching that a little to make it seem like I really gave it all I had to make it to 5 minutes…) all I could think of was how long I had to keep doing this to reach the end.

Sound familiar?

Don’t get me wrong.  The gym can be GREAT! Some people really love it and I encourage my clients to switch it up and go if it inspires them. Trying different things can keep you from plateauing in your workouts.

When I found Zumba, my first reaction to the video I watched was “This is AMAZING!! I wanna do this!”

When I found my first class and went my first reaction was (tons of laughter from me) and “What the heck am I doing? I must look like a clown right now!”

The difference between yoga classes and Zumba classes (besides the obvious differences) is this…when you laugh and can’t stop in Zumba..it is fun and contagious….when you laugh and can’t stop in yoga…they kick you out…

I learned that one on my own too

(hence why I also teach Laughter Yoga…Kinda more my style)

After taking a few Zumba classes (started out with one a week), I began to know the moves a little more and fell in love with music and how FAST the class went.  I felt like I just stepped into class and suddenly we were at the cooldown.

BAM!

Just like that I was sweaty, relaxed and DONE my workout!! Felt so good!!

Each week came with more moves, new rhythms and then this class called Zumba Toning started and class was different but still as much fun as regular Zumba.  Then came Zumba Senato!!

What??!! All this from the Zumba Family??

The great part was that this class gave me a new way to continue doing what I loved and a new way to work my muscles so I didn’t plateau in my workouts.

Fast forward to 10 years now…2 years as a student and coming up 8 years teaching.

People often as me “Is Zumba just a fad?”

Honestly, I don’t know…I have been doing it for a decade now and I am not bored and have no interest in quitting. I love it. It is passion. It is play. It is sweaty fun with an AMAZING community of people! I cannot imagine going back to anything else.

I think there are quite a few people out there, just like me, that a decade has passed and we are all wondering where the time went because it is just that AWESOME and easy to get hooked doing it!

Hope you come have some laughs, sweat and groove moves with us all soon! It is NEVER too late to start!

Dance is More Than Just Fitness…

I cannot even tell you the amount of times that I have used dancing as a way to get clear on my thoughts, feelings and emotions.

When I am feeling “stuck” in life, I find that the way I am able to move through anything that I come up against is to crank up the music and DANCE, whether it be in a class or on my own in my living room…shifting the energy through movement has me become clear and focused and able to take on issues in my life that before I was literally paralyzed by.

Whether you can dance well or not is not even important. Movement is ALL that is important.

Shift your body and shift your mind.

All classes are ON this week if you wanna come shift some energy!
